CLAYTON,
New York (May 15, 2015) – Calling all volunteers!
The
Antique Boat Museum (ABM) is seeking new and returning volunteers for the 2015
season.
Join
the staff of the ABM and the Volunteer Council on Thursday, May 21 at 9 a.m. to
learn about the various activities and duties the Museum seeks assistance with
this season. Each year, the ABM leans heavily on the willing helping hands of
the river community to orchestrate numerous events, guided tours, boat rides
and more.
In
2014, more than 150 people volunteered 12,000 work hours to the ABM, which
allowed for successful events such as Family Day, 1000 Islands Concours
d’Elegance Classic Car Show, and the 10-day celebration of the 50th
annual Antique Boat Show and Auction. In addition to assisting with events,
volunteers also played a key role in on-site boat building, various classes,
grounds keeping, museum store operations, and other tasks necessary to the
success of the ABM.
The
ABM’s Volunteer Council will introduce new incentive programs for the 2015
season. Any current (as of 2014) volunteer, who recruits a new
volunteer that dedicates a minimum of 15 hours this season, will receive a
special two-hour wine and cheese cruise on an ABM ride boat. In addition, any
volunteer to work 15 hours or more specifically over Boat Show weekend will be
entitled to a 51st Annual Antique Boat Show commemorative souvenir.
If you
are interested in joining us at the Museum this summer as a volunteer, be sure
to attend on May 21 for a complimentary breakfast, catered by The Clipper Inn,
and an information session.
To
RSVP or for more details, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Judie Petersen
at 315-686-4104 ext 246 prior to May 20.
