CLAYTON, New York (April
26, 2015) – The Antique Boat Museum (ABM), North America’s premier freshwater nautical museum based in Clayton, New York, announced today details of the
upcoming 2015 season.
The
celebration of the Museum’s re-opening, which is presented by Vintage Doors,
will include a number of giveaways on the ABM’s Facebook page leading up to the
first day of the 2015 season on Friday, May 1. Facebook followers will have the
opportunity to win merchandise, books, and event tickets.
The ABM officially re-opens
on May 1 at 9 a.m. and will be open 7 days a week through Columbus Day.
2015 Event Schedule
This season, the ABM
embarks on yet another full calendar of activity that will see more than 40
public and private events, not including multiple ABM education courses, occur
at the Museum in the 23 weeks between May 1 and October 12. Nearly every
weekend not slated to host a Museum event is scheduled for a wedding or other
private gathering.
In May, the ABM will play
host to the annual Volunteer Breakfast. This affair will take place on May 21
and serves as a recruiting event, as well as a time for past volunteers to
declare their interests in helping for the season. On May 22 from 5-7 p.m., the
ABM invites the public to attend the formal opening of the Museum’s newest
exhibits during a free reception, catered by DiPrinzio’s.
In June, the popular 1000
Islands Family Day returns on June 13. This free admission day is presented by
Watertown Savings Bank, Fidelis Care & WWNY-TV and will feature numerous displays
and activities, as well as discounted speedboat rides. Also, the Great
International Steamboat Flotilla returns for its fourth consecutive year on
June 14-20. The month will be capped off by a new event this summer, Halfway to
Christmas Boat Parade, which participants are encouraged to light up their boat
in Christmas décor.
POSH
Picnic returns on July 3 and will feature an auction with extravagant items. On
July 11, the Museum will host the 5th annual Concours d’Elegance
Classic Car Show. British cars are the marque of the year. And, the biggest
event of the summer sets sail on July 31, as the 51st annual Antique
Boat Show & Auction gets underway. Known as the longest running Antique
Boat Show in North America, this year’s show is shaping up to be an encore to
last year’s event.
Finally,
the Caravan Stage Company (www.caravanstage.org) will float into the dock at the ABM this
coming August 14 & 15 for two nights of high-flying, mesmerizing aerial
acrobatics and a world-renowned theatrical performance that is sure to be the
talk of the 1000 Islands this summer season. The performances are already this
summer’s hottest ticketed event and has sold more than 600 tickets as of April
25.
