Debra Rantanen, ABM Educator

CLAYTON, New York (March 7, 2016) – The Antique Boat Museum (ABM), North America’s premier freshwater nautical museum based in Clayton, NY, announced today that Debra Rantanen has been named Educator.

Rantanen brings more than 15 years of educational and teaching experience to the Museum, having taught and developed educational programming in both the public and private school systems. As Educator, Rantanen will be responsible for the ABM’s educational courses including family boatbuilding, Symposium, and Camp ABM. In addition, she will play an integral role in developing programming related to the Museum’s exhibits and on-water offerings.

“I am elated to be joining the staff at the ABM. This is a tremendous opportunity to design educational programming which showcases the unique resources in the Museum’s collections, as well as promoting the cultural heritage of the St Lawrence River communities. One of the values of a museum is in its dedication to sharing and interpreting the unique cultural resources it has. I look forward to reaching out to the multiple groups – museum members, schools, local communities, and visitors to create exciting learning opportunities for all,” Rantanen said.

She and her husband, Andy, reside in Clayton.
